We offer a wide range of camper sizes, from two to five people. For three, we recommend the Trafic 3, Motorhome 3, or Jeep Wrangler.

Yes, during the summer, sheep are running wild all over the country. In case of an accident you it’s required to report it to the farmer. On the east side, you might (very rarely) encounter reindeer. Of course, there are birds and small animals like mice, foxes, and mink, too.

Yes, all our camper vans and motorhomes is on studded tires during winter.

Only 4×4 campers are allowed on F-roads. The VW California 4×4, Dacia Duster, and the Toyota Hilux 4×4 are excellent choices for those who want to explore the F-roads and the Highlands. For those who just want to give it a try, the Crosscamp Flex is a great option, as it is allowed on certain easier roads.

The weather in Iceland is unpredictable, and the leading cause of damage to vehicles.

We highly recommend choosing the Platinum Insurance for a stress-free trip. The Premium insurance is also a good option for some piece of mind.

The sizes vary. Typically, the size is slightly wider than a double bed but not as wide as a Queen-size (140 x 200 cm).

Our larger campers have slightly bigger beds, and are 160×200 cm. Motorhomes are the same size or larger.

No, all our campervans have heaters that can be used overnight. The heaters will use the auxiliary battery and diesel or depend on external campsite electricity.

Yes, most campervans carry a spare tire. If there is no spare, the vehicle is equipped with a fix kit including an air pump and glue for a temporary fix. Please ask our staff if you are unsure.

Absolutely! We are very proud of our delicious water. Fill up your water bottles at any water tap you come along but do not drink the warm water. Read more: Ten don’t do in Iceland

More or less all villages in Iceland have grocery shops but they might not have the cheaper chain stores like Krónan & Bónus.

When you book on our website, you are not required to pay before you pick up the vehicle. If you prefer to pay in advance, there is an option for that in the final booking process.

No. If a person’s credit card is being used on file, they must be a registered driver and must be present at pickup. Passengers are allowed to pay for the rental if they are present.

Well, all seasons we would say. Our campers and motor-homes are made for any weather but not all road conditions.

Winter has its charm but the weather can be unpredictable so one has to follow the weather reports closely  and of course you need to be better prepared with clothing.

When winter looses it’s grip on Iceland and everything comes alive is a wonderful time to be here too but, like winter, one has to be prepared and the weather can differ drastically in the different areas in Iceland.

Summer with its eternal light is magnificent. During summer the weather is much more stable but there can be huge differences in temperature in the different parts of the country.

Fall has some of the fantastic scenerines in combination with stunning light and is a fantastic time to drive around Iceland but bring good rain clothes in case you’d get pounded by heavy rains.

Partially. You have to return the kitchen & cooking utensils clean, and throw away the trash from your vehicle. The fuel needs to be refilled as well.

The motorhomes (Crosscamp Flex, Crosscamp Lux, and Motorhome 3) must be returned fully clean, and all water/waste tanks must be empty. In some cases, you are required to return the gas bottle full.

Yes, all our camper vans and motorhomes are on studded tires during winter.

We recommend you use one of the many camping sites all around Iceland .  You must camp in campsites but that is not a worry since there are at least 215 campsites all around the country.

All campervans are equipped with the following:

• Sleeping room and seats for 2,3, or 5 people, depending on the camper rented.

• Sleeping bags, sheets & pillows.

• Heating system for chilly nights (excluding roof tent campers)

• Chairs & a camping table (excluding the Toyota Hilux and Motorhomes).

• Camping stove & one full Gas canister.

• Pots, Pans, dishes & cutlery.

• A water tank.

You’ll find us 5 minutes from the airport.

There is a complimentary shuttle service from the airport arrival hall. Every 20 minutes, the shuttle driver will head inside the airport carrying a sign with the company logo.

If you cancel 24 hours or more prior pick up time you get 100% refund of what you have already paid.

Yes, currently most campers come with unlimited mileage, so you are free to drive as much as you want.

Hybrid cars such as the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Wrangler have a road tax of 500kr per day.

(Please note that a government-imposed road or kilometer charge may be introduced for all vehicles in 2026. Should such a charge come into effect, Rent.is reserves the right to apply this fee to any existing or future reservation).

It depends.

If your driver’s license has Latin characters, you can bring your national license. Otherwise, you will need an international license.

Just remember to bring it along, as virtual licenses are not valid.

A valid credit card and a valid driver’s license.

However, if you purchase insurance, we do not require a Credit card; Debit is accepted.

The minimum age for driving is 18 years when renting a vehicle with Rent.is.

A valid driving license is required, and a driver must have a minimum of 1 year of experience. However, drivers under the age of 20 years must purchase a Premium insurance or Platinum Plus insurance when renting a vehicle.

In our Keflavík office, we are open 24/7, and you will be picked up by an agent at the airport who will drive you the short distance to where your camper is awaiting you.
