The ideal camper for friends and families | 2019 model | Experienced campers
The Renault Master 5 is one of the largest camper vans in the Rent.is fleet, and one of the most practical choices for families and groups of friends who want to explore Iceland together without compromise. With seating and sleeping space for up to five people, two bunk beds, a full kitchen setup, Webasto heating, and all the essentials included from day one, it removes the logistical headache of traveling in a group and lets you focus on the trip itself.
As a larger camper van, the Renault Master 5 is built for comfort on long drives. It handles Iceland’s main roads and paved routes with ease, making it well-suited to classic itineraries like the Ring Road, the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and the south coast — routes where space, storage, and a good night’s sleep matter more than F-road capability. With over 200 campsites across Iceland to choose from, you’ll have no shortage of places to park up and settle in for the night.
This model sleeps up to five people across two bunk beds, with sleeping bags, sheets, and pillows included for the whole group. The interior is around 2 meters tall, so most adults can stand upright comfortably. The kitchen area includes a portable stove, cookware, a cooler box, a running sink, and a 10L water tank, while the Webasto heating system keeps everyone warm overnight even in colder conditions.
The Renault Master 5 is a great fit for groups of four or five who want a spacious, well-equipped base for exploring Iceland at their own pace — from the waterfalls and glaciers of the south coast to the volcanic landscapes and fishing villages of the north.
Important: The Renault Master 5 is not permitted on F-roads under any circumstances. Travelers planning to access areas such as Landmannalaugar or the Askja region will need a 4×4 camper van
The most space in the fleet — The Master 5 is one of our largest camper vans. If you’re traveling as a group of four or five people, it’s the only camper van in the fleet that gives everyone a proper bed, a seat, and enough room to actually move around inside.
Warm nights guaranteed — The Webasto heating system keeps the interior comfortable overnight even in cold conditions, making the Master 5 a solid choice for shoulder season travel as well as summer.
Family friendly — The bunk bed layout works well for families with kids, the interior height means no one is hunching over, and having the kitchen and sleeping areas separate keeps things organized when you’re living on the road with a group.
Manual transmission — The Renault Master 5 has a manual gearbox, giving confident drivers more control on Iceland’s varied roads. If you need an automatic, take a look at our other available models.

What Travelers Loved About the Renault Master 5
“Awesome experience. We rent a Renault Master for 7 days in Octomber. The price was the lowest in all Iceland. We had a smooth check in & out. Also, they provide for free pickup and dropoff from the airport. We took the premium insurance, as any of you must do when you’re driving in Iceland. The heater keep as warm at nights (except one night that didn’t work with no reason,we communicated with the 24hr service and help as in a minute) and the frigerator keep cold our mini meals due to day. If the weather allowed, you can eat or drink your coffee outside of the van, with the portable table and chairs they provide. Don’t be afraid to drive the van, it’s smooth like a mini car. ”

Renault Master 5 FAQ
The Renault Master 5 uses diesel, and the fuel tank size is 80L.
Storage is available under the lower bed and in the kitchen area. We strongly recommend soft duffel bags rather than hard-shell suitcases — they compress and stack more easily in the available space.
Yes — the interior is around 2 meters tall, so most people can stand upright comfortably.
Yes. There are USB and 12V ports in the rear of the camper for charging phones, cameras, and other devices.
With normal use, the 12V auxiliary battery lasts around 8 hours when the Webasto heater is running. Heavier usage — more devices charging, lights on longer — will drain it faster. The battery recharges while you drive.
No. The Master 5 is not permitted on F-roads or Highland routes under any circumstances. These mountain tracks require a 4×4 vehicle. If your itinerary includes F-roads, take a look at our 4×4 camper van options.
Yes — it’s one of the best options for families of 4–5 in Iceland. The interior is spacious enough for everyone to move around, the bunk bed layout works well for kids, and having the kitchen, heating, and sleeping gear all included removes a lot of the logistical pressure of traveling with a group.
The Rent.is base is 5 minutes from Keflavík Airport. A free shuttle runs frequently from the airport arrival hall — look for the driver holding a Rent.is sign. The same shuttle handles drop-off at the end of your trip.
