Plan the Perfect Iceland Vacation

Active volcanoes, immaculate hot springs, majestic geysers, and the great Northern Lights are but a few of the reasons an Iceland vacation has become one of the most sought-after excursions.

The Land of Fire and Ice has earned its moniker, and by booking Iceland vacation packages, you’ll quickly find out why. We’ve put together this travel guide on Iceland travel packages to ensure you have an experience you won’t soon forget.

What to Know Before Traveling to Iceland

Before booking travel packages to Iceland, it’s best to understand a few things about this surreal country.

Even if you find the most ideal, all-inclusive vacation packages Iceland has to offer, you learn that during the peak seasons, it’s an expensive destination. You’ll want to be prepared for some of the costs you may incur on your trip, so you don’t get struck by sticker shock.

One way to get the most out of your trip at a reasonable rate is to look into Iceland winter vacation packages. Choosing an Iceland winter vacation between December and March can be an effective way to see the island at discounted prices.

Keep in mind that an Iceland summer vacation between June and August is the country’s peak season and can get very crowded.

If you do opt for a vacation in Iceland during the winter months, you will want your car or camper van to be equipped with 4WD, as some of the roads will be difficult to navigate otherwise.

When to Vacation in Iceland

Wondering when is the best time of year to visit Iceland? Your Icelandic itinerary will be entirely dependent on the season you choose to visit the country. An Iceland vacation during the winter months, which are the months between October and March, will have long evenings coupled with rain or snowfall.

While the weather is chilly during these months, frequently hovering around 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius), it’s not an unbearable cold if you dress inadequate layers.

One benefit of the long nights is that they will provide you with ample opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis.

With the country bordering the Arctic Circle, you can enjoy an almost entirely different experience by booking an Iceland summer vacation

As long as the nights are in winter, you can expect just as much sun during the summer. Traveling between May and September, during the peak of the season, you can enjoy over 20 hours of daylight.

The weather will also reach a comfortable 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5 degrees Celsius). If you find this temperature to be brisk, you can always jump into one of the natural hot springs dotted around the landscape.

Iceland Vacation Packages

Iceland can be explored in numerous ways. You can drive off the beaten path and see sights that will enchant you, or if you prefer enjoying quaint cafes and whale tours, you can find excellent Reykjavik vacation packages.

Natural Phenomenons

There are plenty of Iceland vacation packages that will bring you in touch with nature. Some can be tailored to bring explorers to remarkable points of interest, such as the Vatnajökull ice-caves, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, and the Blue Lagoon.

Others will take you to the outskirts of the island to behold the Northern Lights amidst active volcanoes.

Golden Circle

If you’re looking for a tried-and-true Iceland vacation, then you’ll want to journey along the Golden Circle. Along the Golden Circle, you’ll be met with three breath-taking locations tucked into the southwest of the country.

You’ll be amazed by the beauty of the Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and the Gullfoss waterfall.

Whale Watching

If you choose to book your Iceland vacation in March, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to view various breeds of whales.

Self-Guided Iceland Vacations

The best way to experience Iceland on your epic vacation is to get off the beaten path and forge your own. To make the most of your time, you can rent a durable 4×4 camper van that will act as your base of operations.

You can begin your travels on the Southern Coast and then journey around the Ring Road, letting wanderlust lead the way.

If you want to stop at the Blue Lagoon, you don’t have to wait for a tour guide. If you’re going to ride Icelandic horses (and they’re horses, not ponies), you don’t need to ask permission to take a leave.

By choosing a self-guided Iceland vacation, you can set your schedule and ensure you see everything the island offers.
